New drug laws worth considering | British Columbia | News | Vancouver 24 hrs.Worth considering?I’m in serious chronic pain and am treated like a hard core heroin addict.I was just called in a day after seeing my doctor for urinalysis that they could have asked for on the day.But what’s the fun in that?The adversary relationship that exists between a methadone clinic and it’s patients is appalling.I am never believed and never asked.Then,why ask if you don’t believe anyway?I lost 12 years of my youth to federal and Provincialprisons for drugs.It did me no good and now that I am in pain I cannot get anything even resembling proper medical treatment.What I get are lectures,methadone,which I was on before I lost my spine,and constant,untreated pain.The few times I was able to get proper medication the methadone clinic intervened to have it cancelled.Not for any sound medical reason but for pure ideology.I have zero respect for doctors who allow the system to dictate treatment.So far that’s been all of them.

BC drug Czar Kendall says it’s time to talk about legalization
It’s been a long tome in coming but the man charged with setting drug policy for the Province of BC has finally come out and asked for dialogue on the outright and total legalization of drugs in the Province.While the feds and the core group of prohibitionists in the US of A will complain that this will spell the end of our civilization.It is been quite clear from programs in countries like Portugal,which they always claim would never work here.That making drugs a health issue and not a criminal one have led to far less harm and far less drug use.Especially amongst the age group wherein we have our worst problems,the very young.Kids in early secondary school in Portugal now see drugs as a serious problem and as the health issue it really is.This is exactly what the anti prohibition forces have claimed for years and is the one thing their opponent always sight as being the main reason that prohibition is so necessary.If this premise is so very misguided,then why isn’t the whole idea of prohibition a thing of the past?The police,prison guards,lawyers,prosecutors,the courts,prohibition,parole,the list is endless.There is also,I’m sorry to say,an element in the drug community that prefers that the law stays as it is for obvious reasons.The problem,as I see it,is to make the results of the change in Portugal,common knowledge and to cut through the total misinformation that has propped the prohibition of drugs up for over 100 years now.People seem to be under the impression that drug laws are ancient and that they were put into place for reasons other than what the reality shows.With the possible exception of the more recent drug laws,brought about during the height of the paranoia and the hyperbole,drug laws wee brought into being for racist and corporate reasons.The original drug laws came about in Victorian times at the same time as the blue laws and alcohol prohibition came about at the tail end of all this.It didn’t last because the users were white and very wealthy,as well as the rest of us,who have never had any influence.Drugs were in common use for millennia and were never seen as a problem,as they were necessary to keep the troops happy.War has always been a big motivator in this world and during war,drug laws are always forgotten.Any study of ancient troop movements will reveal rampant drug use amongst not only the ordinary line soldiers but also amongst the elite.Alcohol was a favourite,as was opium,hashish,cannabis,mushrooms and whatever the local intoxicant was in the area being contested.This constant warring was the way drugs were brought from the far ends of the earth.They are an excellent way to relax and if the cost isn’t altered out of all proportion by their being made illegal,a fairly cheap way to blow off steam.If drugs are widely available,people are aware of their pluses and minuses and the number of addicts is kept to that ½% of people who will become addicted to a drug or alcohol no matter what.The tremendous cost that has been incurred to have that number remain constant is appalling.The horrendous cost in lives and prisons and ruined lives from being in prison far outweighs any possible benefit that could come from lessening the number of addicts.Something that has never been accomplished and never will.We have wasted at least two generations and countless billions on a wasted and counter productive drug war.It has increased both availability and rates of addiction.Costs have steadily decreased with the exception of cannabis,which everyone does and no one cares about but the hard core prohibitionists.Unfortunately,they are the politicians and the super rich.They seem to get what they want.They and the lobby for prisons,cops,the legal system and all others who profit from the cash and the thrill of high level drug trafficking.The rest of us just pay.

Why is heroin better than sex?Have you ever had the experience of flying?When you were very young?It comes to a time when you just can’t get off the ground anymore.No more feeling of safety and security,warmth and freedom.I had this thing where some unknown enemy in the city below shot me in the stomach with a long spring and down I went.Any way,Maybe you never experienced this.I also relived my birth a few times.That was a total nightmare.My dad’s mom seemed to know what it was.Either that,or she knew what a fucked up life I had.I was just a little guy.So why do I bring this up?Heroin.That brings back that floating safe warm secure feeling you had in the womb.This is a personal opinion from a guy with a 43 year never ending love affair with opiate drugs.I have known people who shoot heroin and move on to meth and say it’s better.Bullsjit.It’s cheaper,that’s it.I was a heroin/cocaine addict for 12 years,till I got busted for the umpteenth time and just didn’t want the jail experience again.I was doing the coke because the heroin was shit.It’s so bad now that people downtown are using morphine,which is a very poor second or Dilaudid which is heroin lite.If I wasn’t banned from travel down south I would be running to Seattle for tar.Too old for that shit.If you were a flyer when you were young,do not do opiate drugs.If you do.You will be stuck in the wheel.If not,you can probably get away with three on three off.This has been a commercial for opiates united.It’s better than sex.No shit.

Under the heading:”B.C. health officials endorse cannabis legalization report”.The 24 hrs news agency says that health officials,academics and justice experts are backing the legalization of marijuana.The article quotes angus reid as polling that 77% of British Columbians favor reform58% don’t believe cannabis is more dangerous than alcohol.The article says that the BC cannabis industry brings in 7B dollars a year to the economy.260M has been spent since 2007 on the national anti drug strategy.The article goes on to say that the federal government is the lone barrier to cannabis reform and that in spite of their rabid anti drug policies and tough on crime attitude the drug is more popular than ever.It’s use doubled in Ontario in the decade from 1999-2009 from 10-20% amongst high school age people.BC’s gang related homicides went from 25 in 1997 to 43 in 2009.Drug prohibition has been a spectacular failure in every way possible and has cost us billions in wasted time,effort,lives and deaths.
Thugs on and off the ice
The night began with Don Cherry chiding the Canucks as cowards who wouldn’t fight over a warmup shot by Tim Thomas who was a smug asshole throughout.The play on the ice was full of the usual hacking slashing tripping tackling throwing down of the Sedins every time they stepped on the ice.Then after this slugfest ended and the biggest thugs in the league took the cup and left the few thugs who consider themselves bomb throwers took over and trashed our city for their own amusement.Make no mistake,the police chief called these goons criminals.I have been a criminal and these guys were punks,not criminals.Crime has a purpose.It may be a sick and depraved purpose but it has a purpose.What we saw last night was a few good men beat down by a mob of drunken louts with nothing but destruction in their hearts.To the few who tried to stop the stupidity before it could start,thank you.To the rest of you,go to the US.They love thug behaviour down there.You can even carry a concealed weapon.Don’t look back.Theres a real war in Mexico.Beheadings,executions,show us what you’re really made of.See ya!To Stephen Harper.This is what kind of society you get when you spread fear and dissension like fertilizer.Your negativity was in the air as it is where ever you go.You can’t fight a dirty election,act like a demagogue and then try to be Joe 6 pack at a hockey game.Your cynical attempt at gleaning some benefit from a Canadian hockey team was transparent and a curse on every Canadian hockey team as long as you stay in politics.Go home and please don’t ever come back to our arena.We never said you could use government security and transport for you and your families amusement.You disgust me more than the thugs.
When yes means no
Where else but in BC politics can the word yes mean no?The government,a Liberal government that has changed it’s leader but none of it’s major brain trust,has lied to the people of the Province often and without conscience.They now expect that we will believe that a tax we were promised was;”not even on this governments radar”will be reduced over a three year period”.They know that the only chance they have,even after spending an unknown amount of tax dollars to convince us this tax is good for us.Is to blindside the no HST crowd with a question that will confuse a % of voters.While the recall has been a cry of NO HST,the answer to the question,if you want NO HST is YES.The NDP braintrust approved the question,which is another problem for another day.Hopefully,the recent appointment of a LEADER to the party may stop some of the endless faux pas that plagued the party under it’s last leader.It is doubtless that there will be some of the 18% of undecided voters that will just grab the letter when it comes,check off no and send it off thinking that is a vote against the hated HST.It is NOT.To rid us of this unnecessary burden on our already overtaxed populace,you must vote YES to GETTING RID OF THE HST.Don’t let this cynical bunch of political hacks who have made it a habit to promise the moon and deliver mouldy cheese have their little deceptions pay dividends.It is only 50/50 that we will have a legitimate election here with no fake ballots and no short counts.This is the government that sold out the rights to our rivers FOR ALL TIME to their big business buddies.That passed a carbon tax and came up with the gateway project to destroy any possible gains.That screwed up the school system(yes Chrissy Clarke,you did that yourself)so that there is a total adversary relationship with the school boards and the teachers union.That turned hospital workers into indentured servants,illegally as it turns out.Anyone that thinks this government can be trusted on anything is in denial.Please,when you get your forms in the mail,take the TIME to READ them.Vote “YES” to RID us of the hated and terrible HST.The government is good at one thing and that is using deception to have their way.Don’t let them fool you this time.
How a Harper majority would spell the end of our country
Canada has long been a very different country from the United States and we have always been grateful for that.That was before the election of a minority Conservative government and the total destruction of the Liberal party,the one time bulwark of middle of the road politics and the holding together of the country.Now we have Harper,with his separation politics,not separatist but separate,divide and conquer.Put every part of Canadian culture against the other.The politics of hatred as practiced by our friends to the south.No coincidence as Harper brought his political mind trust from the United States and has often said he wishes we could be a part of the United States.While he attacks Michael Ignatieff for having the nerve to travel and learn about the world and our chief competitor.Harper,who never left Canada before becoming PM,felt that he could deal with the world he knew nothing about that he hadn’t gleaned from the pages of a book,has us mired in an unwinnable war in Afghanistan that his government has lied about and been caught lying about.Unfortunately,Harper has been caught lying about so many things no one seems to notice any more.If Stephen Harper is ever given a majority in this country it will soon become unrecognisable from our neighbors from the south.It will be the end of our health care system as we know it,in spite of the very weak rebuttal form John Baird,the man who defended Harpers climate policies for years and who was the most hated man at more than one climate conference.Why are we ordering the f 34 attack stealth bomber,an offensive weapon?Who is Harper planning to attack?It must be someone because even Obama has no idea what the cost of the f 34 is going to be.If we are to be spending unlimited ammounts of cash on an attack bomber Harper must have someone in mind he wants to drop bombs on in an offensive war.After all,that’s the reason the f 34 exists.He has forced the people that have come in on the ships into the west coast to py off their smugglers and yet howls that it’s Ignatieff who’s weak on border security.No one is allowed to be weak on border security and the concessions that Harper has Made to the Americans are beyond anything that’s necessary for the security of anyone.Forcing us to concede flights within Canada to submit lists of 22 questions on people on board a Canadian flight.People with a criminal record are being forced to get permission to fly in their own country.This is the kind of thing that Harper finds alright because there are people he considers to be citisens and then there’s the rest of us.You won’t know where you stand till you try to fly somewhere.Terrible environmental policy,concessions to the USA that make no sense and that can in no way threaten them,stripping away of financing for political parties that will hurt every party except Harpers conservatives,Speeding up of oil sands development at a time when the knowledge to get this oil is in it’s infancy and when most of the oil produced has to go to the United States and when increases cannot be cut back,ever thanks to the NAFTA signed by the last conservative government.The only government in Canadian history ever to be sanctioned for lying to parliament.This is the conservatives who are running another dirty campaign filled with lies and innuendo.Before you vote for a conservative candidate,find out where they are coming from and what they believe.Look up the neocons and Leo Strauss and ask yourself if this is the kind of dirty tricks,lies,misinformation and framing that you want in your government.You will not have to read very far to see every dirty move that Harper has used to win two minority governments.I just find it shocking that Canadians seem willing to overlook the total lack of values and morals that these supposed evangelicals use to get their way.Please,look into these people.They are racists,they are haters and they have no moral fibre.

My roots are Ndp to the core.My Gram was T.C.Douglas’ personal secretary in Coquitlam.I can still remember who it was first cut welfare rates from something that was livable to Sro’s and at least 10 days of hunger.I believe this was also there reason for the founding of the food banks.I have no faith in any politician now and by reducing the possible candidate base by as much as 50%,Carole James scares me to death.She stands firm on issues that are her personal opinions but waffles badly on just about everything else.I hate the Liberals arrogance and obvious corruption.P4’s are the worst thing I’ve seen in 60 years.Just ask the folks in England.Remember that conservative politicians frame elections long before they start.How much has this government spent of your and my money to convince us this is the best place on Earth?We can be sure of one thing.If re elected the Liberals will continue to sell off our children’s birthright to corporations that worry about nothing but the bottom line.Our rivers will become the property of private firms that can restrict access and charge whatever they want and have no obligation to sell one volt in B.C.Look at the Alcan deal.They’re still trying to sell that as a plus when the company pulled out of the major refit and can now sell that power to whomever they choose.This will be remembered as the government that thought winning an election meant they owned the province and all it’s resources.Environmentalists one day and major oil producers the next,fighting to have the ban on oil shipping on our coast.Who do they work for?Themselves and each other from what’s been exposed till now.
